My Grandmother, my Inspiration - Anna Luckenbach

My name is Angelina Gonzales and I am the owner of Moonflower Baking & Catering. I have been in the food business for over 25 years and have worked as a server, dishwasher, cook, baker, pastry chef, and General Manager for a wide variety of restaurants.

I have had a passion for baking and cooking since I was a young girl.  I have been operating MOONFLOWER as a part time business since 2008. In December 2009 I joined the Harrisonburg Farmers Market.  As of January 2010 I am now running MOONFLOWER BAKING fulltime.

My specialties are old-fashioned desserts and meals that taste like Grandma made them.  And my Grandmother Anna Luckenbach is my longtime source and motivation for amazing desserts and meals.

My favorite experience was a women’s adventure trip for 4 days 14 women.  I was responsible for all the menu planning, shopping and food preparation which included breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and desserts.  We had a great adventure at Harpers Ferry that included biking, hiking and canoeing.

I specialize in Old Fashioned baked goods and home cooked meals. I also like to feature new items that not everyone is familiar with such as my Pear Dumplings stuffed with Macadamias served with a nice Ginger Orange Sauce.

About 2 years ago I had an epiphany on how to make a wonderful piecrust.  If you saw me in action you would realize that I do everything the “wrong way”.  But somehow it works and has become my best seller in my Rustic Tarts.

It is a privilege for me to be working in a business that is from my heart. I deeply appreciate all the support from those who love to eat what I love to Cook and Bake.
